The Ararajuba, or golden parakeet (Guaruba guarouba), is a strikingly beautiful bird native to the Amazon Basin in Brazil, distinguished by its vibrant yellow plumage and green wing feathers. This species is endangered primarily due to habitat loss and fragmentation resulting from extensive deforestation for logging, agriculture, and infrastructure development. The destruction of their natural rainforest habitat not only reduces their living space but also disrupts their breeding sites and food sources. Additionally, the Ararajuba is heavily targeted by the illegal pet trade because of its attractive appearance, which further depletes wild populations.

Conservation efforts are critical to protect and restore the Ararajuba's habitat, enforce anti-poaching laws, and promote sustainable land-use practices to ensure the survival of this iconic and beautiful parakeet.
