This piece is inspired by the Javan Blue Flycatcher.

The Javan blue flycatcher, once common across Java, is now critically endangered due to the illegal songbird trade. Demand for Indonesian songbirds has led to a drastic 20-year decline, leaving only a few vulnerable populations at risk of disappearing quickly.

While thousands are in captivity, the wild population likely numbers less than 1,000, with an 80% decline over a decade. The high demand for this species raises a serious threat of imminent extinction, resulting in its classification as Critically Endangered.
